How To Prevent Gate-Crashing During Your Mediumship Sessions
When I’m doing a mediumship session for someone, there can be spirits that pop in that have absolutely nothing to do with me or the person that I am reading for. This is referred to as gate-crashing. It happens when a spirit wants to be seen, heard, and felt so badly that they interrupt.
There can be many different reasons for this. Sometimes the spirit is lost or needs to cross over to the Other Side and is looking for help. Sometimes they are just curious and want to see what’s going on. And sometimes they would just like to practice their own mediumship skills. Just like mediums need to practice their craft to improve, spirits also need practice. It is a learned skill to communicate with the living. Just like us the more they practice, the better they get.
I’ve noticed that gate-crashing happens the most when I am in a mediumship workshop or practice group. I believe it is because we have set the space with the intention of practicing mediumship, so it attracts spirits who also have the intention to practice mediumship.
Knowing why it happens, doesn’t make it less, annoying, especially when you are unsure of your mediumship skills. It can really make your confidence take a hit when you’re trying to read for a specific person and you have random spirits coming in that have no connection to what you’re doing. They can make you think that it is your skills that are out of whack, when in truth, you set up such a great environment that all sorts of spirits want to talk to you.
I also find it really sad, that for spirits to practice mediumship, they feel like they have to butt-in and try to grab whatever opportunity they can because they have no other alternative. That gave me the idea to donate one hour a week to helping spirits practice their mediumship. On Saturday mornings, I set the space as I would for any client and spend an hour communicating with any spirits that would like to practice their mediumship. I welcome everyone for being there and I ask any spirits who would like to communicate to come forward. Then I say out loud any impressions or information I am getting. This allows them to know how well I am picking up whatever they are sending to me. Perfection is not required, just a willingness to sit and practice.
Setting aside this hour a week also gives spirits who need to cross over an opportunity to come and find help. Before I begin doing readings, I say a prayer for any spirits who would like to cross over. I’ve noticed that spirits now show up en mass on these days and one prayer sends them all over at the same time.
Since I’ve started doing this, my gate-crashing during private mediumship sessions has gone down to zero and gate-crashing during group mediumship practice sessions is down to about 1%. I also get the side benefit of other interdimensional beings and Spirit Guides coming through to talk to me about my personal business. It’s been a win-win for all.
By giving spirits a time and place just for them and what they need, I have made my mediumship stronger, more accurate, and more connected.
